The chemical analysis of environmentally significant elements and inorganic or organic compounds has a long tradition at VDLUFA. Therefore, one of the main goals for this specialist group is to develop, modify and continuously review new analytical methods, which are necessary to solve environmental issues. Since the publishing of Methods Book volume VII “Environmental Analysis” in 1996, collaborative studies for the development of methods and validation are a main focus of the work performed here. In addition, collaborative studies are also carried out regularly for internal and external quality assurance.
